Teens Seeking Cosmetic Surgery, Gastric Band, Liposuction,
Some plastic surgery clinics have reported a doubling in the number of cosmetic surgery procedures carried out on people aged 13 to 19 over the past 8 years.
The surgeries sought by people in this age group range from liposuction to breast enlargement, rhinoplasty and tummy tuck.
The reasons for this rise are complex. Firstly the overall amount of plastic surgery carried out on all ages has risen over the same period. Also, the increasing number of young celebrities having plastic surgery and the media portrayal of perfect people leads to a lot of pressure on young people, and this may be a considerable factor.
