Saudi Arabia has seen a growing interest in cosmetic surgery and procedures by the country’s women, reported the Associated Press.
The boom in cosmetic surgery is quite amazing; plastic surgery centers were previously quite rare in Saudi Arabia and now there are about 35 in the capital city of Riyadh.
A recent study showed that liposuction, breast augmentations and nose jobs were the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures with women. Comparatively hair implants and nose jobs were most popular among men.
Ayman al Sheikh, a Saudi doctor recognises that the demand in cosmetic surgery in Saudi Arabia follows the general increase in demand throughout the world. He also points out that patients in the Arab world appear to be more inclined to undergo cosmetic procedures that make their faces look increasingly unnatural.
Al-Sheikh said the trend is likely to be encouraged by images and media coverage of entertainers who have undergone similar procedures.
