Most Gastric Band Patients Lack Vitamin D, Weight Loss Study Says

A recent study has revealed that most adolescents who undergo weight loss surgery such as gastric band and gastric sleeve procedures have vitamin D deficiencies.

A previous study had found similar deficiencies among adults undergoing weight loss surgery.  Vitamin D is found in foods such as eggs, milk and fish as well as the sun.

It is not currently known if the vitamin D deficiencies are a result of obesity, obesity a result of vitamin D deficiency, or both the result of a third factor.
