Gastric Band Is Not Cosmetic Surgery, Surgeons Remind.
Gastric band surgery is not a form of cosmetic surgery, surgeons have warned, as the number of enquiries from people with a BMI under 35 grow.
A recent study found that many people in theUKwould rather have a gastric band fitted than go on a diet to lose any excess weight. Gastric band surgery is suitable for those who have a BMI over 35 and are unable to lose weight through dieting and exercise, although clinics are receiving a growing number of enquiries from people who are too slim to be suitable candidates. Conversely, enquiries are being made for liposuction and tummy tuck by people who are overweight.
The number of such enquiries is symptomatic of the confusion that persists between weight loss surgery such as gastric band, and cosmetic surgery such as liposuction and tummy tuck. In order to get the best results from cosmetic surgery, clients should be at their ideal weight, while people who are obese and have failed to lose weight through other means would be more suited to gastric band surgery.

It’s all very confusing.
So i can’t have a gastric band to stop me getting fat?
So you cant have a tummy tuck if your fat? I thought that was the point.
