Cosmetic Surgery Like Gastric Band Can Provide More Than Cosmetic Results

Cosmetic surgery can provide real medical benefits, as well as aesthetic improvements, it has been claimed.

While plastic surgery covers medically justifiable procedures such as reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery is purely concerned with cosmetic appearance.  These supposedly cosmetic procedures could provide some genuine medical benefits, however.  One recently published study claimed that liposuction can reduce the amount of fat in the blood supply.  Eyelid surgery has been shown to improve vision and Botox has been found to help relieve migraines.

Gastric band surgery, which is intended to enable weight loss, has been found to provide relief from obesity related health concerns such as diabetes, sleep apnea and heart conditions.
