Cosmetic Surgery, Fall In Number Of Plastic Surgery Procedures,
A recent survey of 928 US plastic surgeons has revealed a drop in the number of Plastic Surgery Procedures.
Despite the increase in popularity and cultural acceptance of plastic surgery, the overall number of surgical procedures appears to have dropped by 2% over the last year.
The biggest drop was in major surgeries such as liposuction, tummy tuck and gastric band which fell in number by 17% to 1.5 million procedures.
Part of the reason for the reduction could be the economic crisis, with potential patients either putting off surgery for more a financially secure time or opting for lesser cosmetic procedures such as injections or skin peels. The number of these ‘non invasive procedures’ rose 231% in the same period.
One possible other reason is the rise of so called ‘cosmetic surgery tourism’, where patients, attracted by lower prices, travel abroad for surgery.

This is surprising, i am sure i’ve read articles very recently saying that plastic surgery is on the rise even in the current economic situation.
This does make sense, i have read articles claiming that surgery is still rising despite the downturn and thought that is strange.
2% is not really a fall though, more a fluctuation
