Tummy Tuck, Gastric Band To Increase As Half UK Men Obese By 2040

Almost half of all men living in the UK could be obese by 2040, according to the latest predictions.

In 1993, 10% of UK men were obese.  The current number of obese men stands at 20%, by 2040 this figure is predicted to be 45%; an increase of 350% in under 50 years.

This huge increase has already resulted in an increase in weight loss surgery such as gastric band and weight related plastic surgery such as tummy tuck, liposuction and male chest reduction.

Gastric Band Can Help Obese Women Become Pregnant

Obesity has long been linked with difficulty in becoming pregnant, but a new study confirms that losing weight can improve the chance of falling pregnant.

The study followed a group of overweight women, some of whom lost weight while the remained did not.  Half of the women who lost weight became pregnant, while only one in 7 of those who did not managed to become pregnant by the end of the study.

Gastric band surgery is an effective option for people who have struggled to lose weight through other means, such as diet and exercise.

Gastric Band Customers Get Half Price Meals At Mexican Restaurants

Diners eating out in Campinas, near Sao Paulo in Mexico will get half price meals if they can prove they have had a gastric band fitted.

According to the local councillor, Francisco Sellin, ‘People with a gastric band eat less than half what everyone else eats. If they order a dish from the menu they’ll only manage to eat a fraction of it. They shouldn’t have to pay the same.’

Unlike cosmetic surgery such as a tummy tuck or liposuction, a gastric band is a weight loss procedure. It works by restricting the amount of food that can be eaten, leading to long term weight loss.

50% of Men Could Benefit From Breast Reduction & Liposuction Cosmetic Surgery

Between 40 – 60% of men have ‘man boobs’, and could benefit from plastic surgery.

Male chest reduction, often combined with liposuction, can reduce excess breast tissue in order to provide a slimmer, more toned look.

Although excess male breast tissue is often linked with the rise in obesity, unlike people seeking other plastic surgery such as a tummy tuck, many of the increasing number of men seeking breast reduction are not overweight.
