Post obesity related cosmetic surgery is a strong factor in the steady number of people seeking cosmetic surgery, according to new research.

The economic slowdown of recent years has effected many industries.  Cosmetic surgery had been reported to fair considerably better than many industries, and obesity could be a reason.  The wordwide epidemic of obesity has led to more people losing weight either by healthy living or having a gastric band fitted.  Loose and saggy skin left after massive weight loss can be tidied up through tummy tuck, liposuction, breast enlargement and other plastic surgery procedures, and it the rise in the number of such procedures that may be the reason cosmetic surgery numbers have not fallen as drastically as they may otherwise have done.

Gastric Band Surgery Could Save UK 4.3bn Per Year.

The UK’s rising obesity problem is costing the UK 4.3bn per year, according to a new report, and gastric band surgery could be the answer.

The National Institute of Health & Clinical Excellence (Nice)  claims that over 1 million people in the UK are suitable candidates for bariatric surgery such as a gastric band, and if just 25% of these people had one fitted it would save £150m in benefits payments alone.

Much like cosmetic surgery such as breast enlargement, liposuction & tummy tuck, many people seek gastric band procedures abroad where they can be considerably cheaper than in the UK.

39% Of Mothers Would Consider Tummy Tuck, Breast Enlargement & Liposuction Plastic Surgery.

According to a recent survey, regaining their pre-pregnancy body is a priority to 93% of women, and 39% would consider cosmetic surgery in order to to achieve it.

Figures show that weight is the issue women worry about most after pregnancy (34%), stretch marks (24%), loose skin (21%), cellulite (14%) and saggy breasts (7%).  Increasing numbers are thought to be seeking ‘mummy makeover’ plastic surgery in order to restore the pre-pregnancy state of their body, which can include liposuction, tummy tuck and breast enlargement as well as in some cases a gastric band.
