Body Contour Liposuction & Tummy Tuck Rare After Gastric Band

Body Contour Liposuction & Tummy Tuck Rare After Gastric Band

Body contouring cosmetic surgery after surgically enabled weight loss such as gastric banding is actually quite rare, according to a recent survey.

Any considerable weight loss can result in excess skin due to the stretching obesity or pregnancy can cause.  While exercise can strengthen the muscles and improve the appearance, sometimes surgery is the only solution.  Body contouring plastic surgery can include tummy tuck, liposuction cosmetic surgery  and various types of lift such as thigh or breast, in order to remove excess skin and stubborn pockets of fat.

Despite the benefits, as few as a quarter of gastric band patients go on to have cosmetic surgery to improve the appearance of loose skin.

It is probably because it’s expensive.

This would count as cosmetic surgery, so insurers or NHS would not pay for it in most cases.

All that hanging skin can be dangerous. I read about one woman who got it jammed in her electric car seat.
