Plastic Surgery: Gastric Band Man To Run 10k For Charity,

A man who received a gastric band operation as a birthday present is to run 10k for charity.

Sam Tiley from Weybridge, 26 years old and an IT consultant, had struggled with dieting for years before having the gastric band fitted.  Since then he has managed to drop from 22.5 stone to under 14 and says that “The band is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, it has changed my life”.

Unlike many older people who lose a considerable amount of weight, the elasticity of Sam’s skin may mean he does not need to have any cosmetic surgery.  Many people who lose a lot of weight go on to seek plastic surgery such as liposuction, tummy tuck and breast enlargement.

1 in 10 Parents Would Pay For Liposuction, Tummy Tuck, Cosmetic Surgery

A new study suggests that 8% of UK parents would pay for their teenage children to have plastic surgery if their child asked.

Half of the parents involved in the study said that the reason they would pay for cosmetic surgery such as breast enlargement or tummy tuck is to improve their child’s self confidence, while almost a quarter said they would do so to stop their child being bullied.

While almost fifth of parents would agree to pay for liposuction, a quarter would pay for a gastric band to be fitted.

Liposuction Most Popular Plastic Surgery for Men, Gastric Band The Reason?

Liposuction Most Popular Plastic Surgery for Men, Gastric Band The Reason?

Liposuction is the most popular plastic surgery procedure for men, according to recent findings.

Male chest reduction has been reported as the fastest growing cosmetic surgery for men, and tummy tucks have also become more popular among men, but both of these procedures often involve liposuction, meaning that overall, this may be the most popular plastic surgery.  The rise in gastric band uptake is thought to be a factor in the large number of weight related cosmetic surgery now taking place.

The rise in men seeking cosmetic surgery may be one reason why breast enlargement has recently been knocked off the top spot by liposuction as the most popular plastic surgery in the UK.  A recent study also found liposuction to be the most sought cosmetic surgery worldwide too.

Plastic Surgery Fan Alan Sugar Jumps the Cosmetic Surgery & Gastric Band Queue,

Alan Sugar, star of ‘The Apprentice’ used his fame to skip the waiting list for plastic surgery when he had cosmetic surgery on his eyelids.

After being told that his cosmetic surgeon would not be available for six weeks, he said to the receptionist ‘Look, just write this down: Sir Alan Sugar. Have you got a computer, young lady?’ “She said, ‘Yes’ “I said, ‘Put it into Google, all right, and see if he can fit me in a bit earlier’ “She rang back two minutes later, saying, ‘Dr Figal will see you tomorrow’.

It is unknown what other cosmetic surgery Alan may have had, but it is unlikely he had to wait in the queue with other clients seeking procedures including breast enlargement, liposuction, gastric band and tummy tuck.

Gastric Band & Plastic Surgery Uptake Encouraged By UK’s Obesity Levels,

Gastric Band & Plastic Surgery Uptake Encouraged By UK’s Obesity Levels,

The UK has the third highest level of obesity in the world, according the ‘World Health Organization’.

More than half of the UK population are either overweight or obese.  46% of men and 32% of women in the UK are overweight, while a further 17% of men and 21% of women are obese.

This is thought to be one reason in the growing numbers of people seeking gastric band surgery, along with increased knowledge of the procedure.  Weight loss related cosmetic surgery such as tummy tuck, liposuction and breast enlargement, are thought to be a major factor in the surprisingly buoyant mid-recession state of the plastic surgery industry.
